For editors

If WordPress feels easy to you, this should feel easier.

There's nothing here for editors to click yet. Here's the bar the admin has to clear, and what's already in place underneath it.

On the roadmap

Where things stand

Today TachyonCMS is an API: something your developer talks to, not something you log in to. If you write the posts, plan the newsletter or keep the events page current, there’s no screen for you yet.

What there is, is a promise with a test attached. Someone who has only ever used WordPress should pick up the admin without training, from adding a new kind of content to scheduling a post for Friday morning.

What it’s being built to do

  • Save drafts, keep earlier versions, schedule a post and get a deleted one back from the Trash.
  • Keep your images in a media library, with image processing built in.
  • See a page the way visitors will, before it goes live.
  • Bring a WordPress site across with an importer, rather than copying it by hand.
  • Publish in more than one language, and search everything you’ve written.

What’s already settled

A few things that will shape your day are in place now, because they live underneath the screen.

Your developer can already describe how your editing screen will be laid out: fields grouped into tabs and sections you can fold away, a hint under a field that explains what goes there, a field that only appears when it’s relevant. The screen that shows it is still to come.

Roles are already real. An Author writes and changes their own posts. An Editor looks after everyone’s. And a rule can keep a field, say a salary, in front of HR and nobody else.

Want to know when it’s ready?

Leave your email and you’ll hear when there’s a release, and when there’s news about the admin. Or follow along on GitHub, where it’s being built in the open.

Where this comes from

Every claim on this page comes from one of these. If one's out of date, tell me in an issue.
